Do you lose things often – your keys, your glasses, your mind?  Hopefully not the latter, but when you think New Year Resolution, getting organized is near the top of the list of resolutions.  What better time to create a fun and easy to make projects to help keep you more organized in 2020?

Even the most organized individuals can relate to this conundrum – you put in two socks into the dryer and only one comes out.  This easy project gives those lonely socks a home until their sole mate is found.

Supplies Needed:

You can find the project in Design Space here: Lost Socks Seeking Solemates

Make sure your sign is clean and dry before you start. Use the foam brush to paint the sign black, then let it dry. Rinse and dry the brush for use later.   While your sign is drying, open the project and send it to your machine to cut. Weed (remove unneeded pieces) with your weeder. Remove the backing of your transfer tape and place it onto the vinyl. Use the scraper to burnish (rub) over your design to make sure it adheres to the tape. Flip it over and remove the vinyl backing.

Use the transfer tape to place your vinyl onto the sign. Use the scraper again to burnish your design, making sure that it is firmly adhered to the wood. If it isn’t completely attached, paint could seep in the cracks during the next step.

Paint with cream over the entire sign, including over the vinyl. When this layer has completely dried, peel off the vinyl to reveal the letters.

Distress Edges of the Sign and Add Clothespins

Use sandpaper along the edges of the sign to create a distressed look.

Stick the washi tape onto your clothespins. Use hot glue to attach them to your sign. Hang in your laundry room and enjoy being more organized in your life.
