Community inspiration to organize your home

9 December 2021

Staples says, “Inspiration isn’t just within us, it’s all around us.” And, we don’t disagree!

Several Cricut community members organized spaces in their home with a trip to their local Staples store. Listed by room, here are a few tips and learnings from each of them!

Laundry and utility rooms

Alex instilled some much-needed order into her laundry room.

“Having the ability to make labels with my Cricut Joy helped me differentiate what was stored in which baskets… when I have a space that looks pretty, I am more likely to keep it that way!”

Inspiration

Renovation that focused on adding more functionality to a practical space.

Before

“Before this project, towels and other miscellaneous objects were often thrown into this corner with no rhyme or reason. It was simply a “chaotic catch-all.”

After

“I really wanted to get rid of the eyesore. Getting some baskets and making a few labels with my Cricut Joy showed me just how easy this simple task could be!”

Tips

  • Think about what you typically store in the area
  • Categorize those items by determining how to group them together
  • Get storage elements that fit the space and grouped items

Kitchens and cabinets

Sandy from Elleehome.com organized the spices in her kitchen.

“Using the writable Cricut (Joy) labels meant I could create personalized labels that matched out exact needs.”

Inspiration

General declutter at home that included sustaining an organized space, plus “a space where my daughter could easily find her snacks”

Before

“The kitchen is the most difficult place in our home to keep organized.”

After

“I prioritized getting a variety of jar and storage bin sizes so that I could have a room to decant all our pantry staples.”

Tip

  • “Get clear canisters so you can see when things need refilling!”

Pantry spaces

Amanda added order to all the food things in her pantry.

“Using my Cricut Joy for those labels was fast and easy! I should have organized it a while ago. It makes me feel so happy!”

Inspiration

An aesthetically pleasing way to organize the most accessed shelf

Before

“We have large sliding shelves in the pantry and the shelf we use the most with cereals, snacks, and pasta was just a mess.”

After

“One of our goals is to waste less food. So, I wanted to use clear containers and then label them to be able to see exactly what we had on hand.”

Tips

  • Plan first and always remember to measure—whether it’s containers or the size of your labels
  • Give it an elevated feel with clean and simple fonts for your labels

More small business organization

Alisha organized the materials for her small business.

“When I started organizing my space, I decided to separate my supplies by category and label each one using my Cricut Joy!”

Inspiration

Creating a more productive and enjoyable work environment

Before

“As my small business began to grow, so did my supplies, and things quickly started to get cluttered and unorganized… I noticed I began to feel more stressed and unmotivated.”

After

“Labeling has helped me find exactly what I need in a pinch, without having to open anything up or take anything off of the shelves.”

Tips

  • It’s okay to start small—drawer, bookcase, or closet shelf
  • Ask yourself: how does this space make you feel, do you use all the items in the space, does it feel tidy and allow you room to grow?
